Wahania nastroju, spowolnienie refleksu, zawroty głowy: różne fizyczne i psychiczne objawy wypalenia zawodowego niepostrzeżenie wkradają się do codziennego życia. Co artysta może zrobić z tym osłabionym stanem w świecie, w którym praca nadaje sens egzystencji? W tej atmosferze może się wydawać, że ciągła produkcja jest kluczem do satysfakcji, jednak nagromadzenie zbyt wielu projektów często toruje drogę do wypalenia zawodowego.
W swoim solo Viktor Szeri nie ukrywa swojej apatii, czerpie z osobistych doświadczeń i buduje choreografię w oparciu o zmęczenie i brak pragnień. Bada proces twórczy, granice i tolerancję własnego ciała przez pryzmat wypalenia zawodowego, jednocześnie eksperymentując z tym, jak publiczność może odnieść się do tej otępiałej wizji.
Spektakl „Fatigue” został wybrany do sieci Aerowaves „Twenty24 Artists” i otrzymał nagrodę Rudolfa Lábána 2023 przyznawaną przez niezależną scenę sztuk performatywnych na Węgrzech. W laudacji wygłoszonej podczas ceremonii wręczania nagrody Ákos Török zwrócił uwagę na najbardziej wywrotowe aspekty pracy Viktora Szeri: „(…) Zmęczenie ma więc jednocześnie bolesną prawdę i znaczenie, a prawdziwą siłą tego dzieła jest to, że potrafi ono przekształcić ten ból w coś produktywnego. Spektakl w jasny i przejmujący sposób przedstawia dramat człowieka osadzonego i zapomnianego w życiu (…)”.

VIKTOR SZERI (ur. 1993) — niezależny performer i choreograf. Uzyskał tytuł licencjata w dziedzinie choreografii w Budapesztańskiej Szkole Sztuki Cyrkowej i Tańca Współczesnego (Circus Arts and Contemporary Dance College) oraz tytuł magistra w dziedzinie projektowania mediów na MOME w Budapeszcie. W 2018 roku wraz z Tamásem Pállem i Gyulą Muskovicsem założył grupę artystyczną Hollow. W jego immersyjnych instalacjach i performansach choreografia i taniec łączą się z poezją, nowymi mediami i odgrywaniem ról, tworząc „prototypy światów”, w których dominujące systemy konsensualnej rzeczywistości mogą być kwestionowane lub modyfikowane. Ostatnio otrzymał kilka stypendiów i odbył rezydencje m.in. w Wiedniu, Paryżu, i Stambule. Jego prace były prezentowane m.in. w Sophiensaele (Berlin), Theatre de Vanves (Paryż), WUK (Wiedeń), radialsystem (Berlin) i Divadlo X10 (Praga). Mood swings, slowed reflexes, dizziness: the various physical and psychological symptoms of burnout infiltrate unnoticed into everyday life. What can an artist do with this enervated state in a world where work makes existence tangible? In this climate, it can seem as if continuous production, the accumulation of projects, is the key to satisfaction, while all this points the way to burnout.
In his solo, Viktor Szeri does not hide his apathy, but draws on his personal experiences and builds his choreography on fatigue, on wanting nothing. He explores the creative process, the limits and tolerance of his own body through the filter of burnout, while also experimenting with how the audience can relate to this sedated vision.
“Fatigue” was selected as part of the Aerowaves ‘Twenty24 Artists’ network and was awarded the Rudolf Lábán Prize 2023. In laudation delivered during the award ceremony by Ákos Török we read: “(…) Thus fatigue simultaneously has a painful truth and meaning, the true power of the piece is that it is able to turn this pain productive. The performance presents the drama of the human being set and forgotten in life clearly and poignantly (…)”.

He received a BA in Choreography at the Budapest Contemporary Dance Academy, and an MA in Media Design at the Moholy-Nagy University of Art and Design in Budapest. In 2018, he founded the artist group Hollow with Tamás Páll and Gyula Muskovics. In their immersive installations and performances, choreography and dance are combined with poetry, new media, and role-playing to create “world prototypes” where the dominant systems of consensual reality can be questioned or modified. Recently, he has been awarded several scholarships and residencies in cities such as Budapest, Prague and Berlin. His works have been presented in — among others — Sophiensaele (Berlin), Theatre de Vanves (Paris), WUK (Vienna), radialsystem (Berlin), and Divadlo X10, Y events (Prague). Since 2020, he has been the organiser of the Under500 interdisciplinary performing arts festival. He is based in Budapest.
