„Hide a Body” Amazony Assem to praca odwołująca się do prywatnych doświadczeń i historii trans kobiet, która łączy w sobie elementy teatru, performansu i sztuk wizualnych. Jest efektem rezydencji performatywnej w Pawilonie, wspierającej osoby wchodzące w profesjonalny obieg sztuki. Amazona Assem to artystka pochodząca z Kairu, od kilku lat związana z Poznaniem, absolwentka kierunku intermedia na Uniwersytecie Artystycznym im. Magdaleny Abakanowicz. Pracuje z różnymi mediami (filmem, performansem, rzeźbą, instalacją), jest autorką m.in. performansów kwestionujących hierarchiczność w relacjach między ludźmi i nie-ludźmi.
W „Hide a Body” Amazona Assem porusza wątki związane z jej tożsamością jako trans kobiety, wplatając je w szerszą narrację polityczną – pokazuje obraz życia w świecie, w którym ciała muszą się ukrywać, aby przetrwać. To przede wszystkim opowieść o poruszaniu się kobiet trans po systemie medycznym, zbudowanym przez spojrzenie osób cispłciowych (czyli takich, które odczuwają spójność między płcią przypisaną przy narodzinach a tym, jak się czują) na ciała queerowe.
Program rezydencji performatywnych w Pawilonie wspiera osoby artystyczne wchodzące w profesjonalny obieg sztuki, które eksperymentują z różnymi formami teatralnymi i szukają nowych języków scenicznych. W ramach programu otrzymują wsparcie finansowe, zaplecze i budżet produkcyjny, opiekę merytoryczną i konsultacje z osobami eksperckimi.
Performans prezentowany jest w ramach programu Poznań Pride 2026. Stowarzyszenie Grupa Stonewall jest partnerem wydarzenia.
AMAZONA ASSEM – artystka interdyscyplinarna. Absolwentka intermediów na Uniwersytecie Artystycznym im. Magdaleny Abakanowicz w Poznaniu. W swojej twórczości zgłębia tematy związane z tożsamością/osobowością, autonomią ciała i biohackingiem, queerowym wygnaniem i diasporą oraz spekulatywnymi dystopiami. Mieszka w Poznaniu.

“Hide a Body” by Amazona Assem is a work that draws on the personal experiences and stories of trans women, combining elements of theater, performance, and the visual arts. It is the result of a performance residency at Pawilon, which supports artists entering the professional art scene. Amazona Assem is an artist from Cairo who has been based in Poznań for several years; she is a graduate of the Intermedia program at the Magdalena Abakanowicz University of Arts. She works with various media (film, performance, sculpture, installation) and is the creator of, among other things, performances that question hierarchies in relationships between humans and non-humans.
In “Hide a Body,” Amazona Assem explores themes related to her identity as a trans woman, weaving them into a broader political narrative—she depicts life in a world where bodies must hide in order to survive. It is, above all, a story about trans women navigating a medical system shaped by the cisgender perspective (that is, those who feel an alignment between the sex assigned at birth and how they feel) on queer bodies.
Pawilon’s performance residency program supports artists entering the professional art scene who experiment with various theatrical forms and seek new languages of the stage. As part of the program, they receive financial support, facilities, and a production budget, as well as professional guidance and consultations with experts.
The performance is part of the Poznań Pride 2026 program. The Stonewall Group Association is a partner of the event.
